The breed
Why Gir sourcing is organised differently
Gir is one of India's best-documented indigenous dairy breeds and is native to the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Because Gir herds are dispersed across smallholder farms rather than concentrated in large units, sourcing at commercial scale depends on the density and discipline of the collection network rather than on any single farm.
Our collection centres in the Gir catchment maintain farmer and herd records at the point of collection. That record is what makes a breed-specific bulk order meaningful — without it, a Gir claim on a tanker of pooled milk cannot be substantiated.

Volume planning
Daily volumes are planned against the collection capacity allocated to your programme, with a seasonal flex band agreed in advance.
Breed-defined pool
Milk is drawn from collection centres in the Gir catchment, with the contributing herds recorded against the batch.
Batch testing
FAT, SNF, protein, acidity, MBRT, alcohol stability and adulteration screening on every released lot.
Traceability
Collection centre, chilling record and despatch details tie back to a single batch identity and COA.
A1/A2 basis
Verification, not assumption
Indigenous breeds are commonly associated with the A2 β-casein variant, but variant profile is an attribute of individual animals, not an automatic property of a breed.
Where a buyer contracts Gir milk on a defined A2:A1 procurement specification, we support it by using RT-PCR to check A1/A2 in the animals of the allocated sourcing pool using our in-house RT-PCR facility, alongside the standard batch testing panel.
